Road To Hope
Hilary Scott   ...the journey continues! Stained Glass Theatre
Hello, friends! Another season is proving to fly by; this summer has brought great things for me, my music, and my band. On a high from our recent appearance at the Festival at Sandpoint, Idaho where we opened for Tanya Tucker to a sold-out and incredibly appreciative crowd, the band looks forward to a busy fall, and we reflect on the many great shows we played in the warm summer night air.

July 4th we had a fantastic showing in the capitol city, and Jefferson City fans proved to make us feel right at home. A few days later we played for one of the largest-ever crowds at the Shelter Garden Concert series on July 9th (attendance estimated at 1600) and in late July we went on a 4-day tour in Wisconsin and Illinois.

After a personal vacation for Michael and myself (Hawaii was fabulous - you can check my blog for more on that) the summer culminated in the Festival at Sandpoint in Idaho. Being 'treated like royalty' is not just a cliche - I could really get used to the air- conditioned pre-show trailer, massage therapist, catered meal, private bath and all the other perks! The festival crowd is ripe with people ready to be entertained. The beautiful stage is perched on the edge of Pend O'Reille lake, ospreys nest nearby, the stars twinkle, and the music flows. This performance was definitely a highlight of my career. I met several people there who will prove to be important connections to other festivals and return venues in the Sandpoint area. We hope to have a CD release party for our new fans and friends in Sandpoint, possibly in December when we return to the area. I want to quickly thank my band, (including the two honorary band members Jeff Mueller and Ruth Acuff who came along and lent their talent to the cause) Melissa, who was invaluably helpful with merchandise and follow-up promotions, and family and friends who treated the band like gold the entire week.

Looking ahead, we plan our first appearance at Grand Cru Restaurant in Columbia, we look forward to the August 25th Bob Dylan tribute CD release concert at the Blue Note (I contributed 'To Make you Feel My Love' to the CD project, and will be performing 'Oh Sister'; with the Doxies at the Blue Note concert), and we hop in and out of the studio with Steve Gardner as he engineers our soon-to-be-born baby, Road to Hope!

If you haven't become a Roadie yet, check out the details listed below - you have only a short couple of weeks to join in the fun - the band is looking forward to spending time with you at the private pre-release party October 7th at the Courtyard Beer and Wine Garden. If you don't become a Roadie, we plan on seeing you at the November 11th CD release party at the Martini Bar in Columbia!

The Festival At Sandpoint
...and the Road To Hope (Idaho), too! Road To Hope Roadies
Attendance for this sold-out show was over 4,000! and the night was an incredible success. The set-list for this show included 'Gravity,' 'Long Ride Home,' 'My Friend,' 'Last Day of Our Acquaintance,' 'Blind Me,' 'Hallelujah,' and 'You Electrify Me.'

Hilary announced from the stage the Road to Hope Road Sign Photo Contest, and the response was terrific! People from around the area have the opportunity to creatively photograph the Hope, Idaho road sign. The winning photo will be included in the Road To Hope CD booklet and posted on the Hilary Scott website, and a nice gift package will be awarded to the winner.

Follow-up bookings will be made in the area, as Hilary hopes to release the Road to Hope CD in December in the area.

Industry News
Recording at Bridge Studio May 28, 2006
The Festival at Sandpoint was a great success for the Hilary Scott band, set in a picture-perfect paradise! On Friday, August 4, Hilary Scott, her acoustic guitarist Bill Adams, percussionist Michael Bielski, harmonica player Matt Griffin, and two pick- up musicians from the band Rutherford, Jeff Muller and Ruth Acuff who shared duties as bassist, opened for Tanya Tucker under the stars on Lake Pend O'Reille in Sandpoint, Idaho. For the first time since 2001, the tickets for this show were sold out prior to the night of the concert. The band was received with open arms for their 40-minute set, and press for this concert was extensive with articles in Spokane's Spokesman Review, The Sandpoint Reader, The Sandpoint Daily Bee, and others.

Hannah Vogel, reporter of the Sandpoint Reader, writes, "Her voice is strong and classic, appropriate for someone who describes her first love of music as 'wanting to fill every room with sound'". To read the complete article, click on "Reader, Unofficial Festival at Sandpoint Guide" on the home page of the Hilary Scott website,

The July Wisconsin/Illinois tour, featuring 2-4 pieces of the Hilary Scott Band was completed with flying colors and the band hopes to return to some of the venues they discovered on this trip.

The Nashville project has been on-hold for the past month due to touring, but Hilary plans on returning to Nashville in September for the continuation of the publishing and writing deal she has been working on with Matthew Wilder and other area songwriters.

Road to Hope, the Hilary Scott Band's current work- in-progress, is slated for release November 11th, at a CD release party to be held at the Martini Bar in Columbia, Missouri. For people purchasing the Roadie package, the pre-release party is to be held at the Courtyard Beer and Wine Garden on October 7th. Road to Hope will possibly include a guest mandolin performance by Columbia legend Lee Ruth and includes fabulous tracks by guest cellist, Carol Elliot. Long-awaited songs on this upcoming album include 'Blessed,' 'Loser Blues' and 'Hallelujah.'

Womenfolk Volume 1 has just been released! Robbie McCowan, producer of www.womenfolk.c om, has gathered thirteen stellar tracks by amazing up-and-coming female artists for this beautiful disc. Robbie herself is a talented designer and artist, and the packaging on this CD complements the exciting music inside. You're sure to discover some new artists you're glad to know about. Robbie chose Hliary Scott's 'Brave New World' from Out of the Wilderness for inclusion on this disc.

Shelter Gardens Summer Concert
    Cooper's Landing
Attendance was estimated at 1600 for this performance, and the night was beautiful - not too hot for July in Missouri! Fans were treated to a live performance by Shelter Insurance employee Carol Elliot as she joined the band on cello for this special night.
Our Northern "Mini-Tour"
Martini Bar - Opening for Lizzie West
Venues included Club Tavern in Middleton, Wisconsin, Uncommon Ground in Mattoon, Illinois, and Cafe Aroma in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. We greeted some old fans and met many new ones, got to visit with Little Feat at their Madison show, and enjoyed ourselves all week.

Cafe' Coco - Nashville
    Stained Glass Theatre
Opening the night was excellent Nashville singer- songwriter Victoria Banks followed by Hilary Scott, Bill Adams, Matt Griffin and Michael Bielski. Tam Adams and Lynn Lampe even made the long road trip to Tennessee with the band as fans, and Kevin Dingman was on-hand as band photographer. The next day Hilary spent in the studio with John Goodwin and Matthew Wilder recording vocal tracks for one of the recently completed songs in her 5-song publishing project.
The Blue Note Summerfest
    West Plains Theater
What a billing! Honored to play before the Bel Airs and Dave Alvin, the Hilary Scott Band enjoyed rocking out on the 9th street Blue Note concert stage.
Fourth of July in Jefferson City!
    Earthday2006
The Jefferson City 4th of July celebration was a blast! The crowd partied, as did the band, at a huge dinner at Griff's house afterwards and fireworks from the top of the hill. A member of the crowd, Bill Bassington, a professional videographer, has offered to make a professional DVD of the upcoming Road to Hope release party (November 11th) for sale and public access broadcasting in several states, including Hawaii! If you're in the crowd, you might be caught on film!
