...the journey continues!
Well - the completion of the Hilary Scott Band's
upcoming release 'Road to Hope' is drawing nigh! This
band spent this past Saturday in the Bridge studio
recording the rhythm tracks for the last four songs to
be included in this much-anticipated release. For anyone
who has attended a show within the last two years and
has requested "Loser Blues," "Blessed," "Daydreamer" or
the band's versions of "Hallelujah" and the Lee Ruth
favorite "You Electrify Me," this album is sure to
please, as the above-mentioned tracks are only a few of
12 crowd- pleasing cuts. Hilary will be adding a new
instrument on this album, the mandolin. An historical
sidenote: years ago, Hilary's great-grandfather and
great-uncle each played mandolin for dances in southwest
Missouri.
The Hilary Scott Band has evolved in their past two years as a group, and this album is sure to be a stirring example of that growth. Not only have the members of the band grown to understand each other and play as a fluid whole, but these songs have been road-tested and fan approved in cities all over! To learn about how you can get your name in the CD acknowledgements and get a copy of 'Road to Hope' weeks before anyone else at a catered party for you and the band members at the Courtyard Beer and Wine Garden, read on! |

The last couple of months have seen Hilary darting to
and fro from Nashville, writing and recording as part of
her 5-song publishing deal with Matthew Wilder. Hilary
has had the opportunity to compose with two writers
considered to be 'Nashville Royalty,' Angela Kaset and
John Goodwin. Hilary and Matthew are venturing into new
territory with songs spanning genres such as techno and
alt-pop.
Hilary and Band are thrilled to have been invited to play at the wonderful Festival at Sandpoint music festival this August, opening for the festival's headliner, Tanya Tucker. The week-long festival takes place in Sandpoint, Idaho, which is near the Montana, Washington, and Canadian borders. Emmett's Kitchen and Tap of Fayette has decided to use one of Hilary's songs for an MTV-like TV commercial to be running in the mid-Missouri area soon - keep your eyes open when you're flipping channels! Hilary was included on the wonderful website Womenfolk last year with a great review of her CD, Out of the Wilderness, and has now been asked to be one of the first artists featured on a Womenfolk compilation to be released nationwide this summer. Also check out the link below for a great new review by Northeast In-Tune of Hilary Scott's music. If you haven't checked out www.cdbaby.com for a while, you might want to! Hilary Scott's music is now available nationwide in retail stores, and some of the many other perks offered by CDBaby are Hilary Scott tunes downloadable as ring tones! Your cell phone could ring like no one else's! As part of the Road to Hope Roadies package being offered in conjunction with the new CD set for release in the fall of 2006, Hilary has hand-picked and re-mastered (with Stephen Gardner of Music House Recording Studio) 12 tracks for the first volume of what will be a series of live tracks gleaned from the many live shows the band has recorded and continues to record. The band has several great show dates coming up in 2006, including their own show at Cafe Coco in Nashville on June 30th, a July 13th date at Club Tavern in Middleton, Wisconsin, and a not-to-be- missed 9th street concert series spot June 28th (put on by the Blue Note in Columbia Missouri) in which Hilary and the band will share the stage with Dave Alvin and the Bel Airs. Hilary will be appearing at Grand Cru restaurant (in Columbia) within the next couple of months. This venue will be great for those fans who desire great food and drink as they listen to the music. Hilary will play the baby grand here! In April, the band also played several special events at the Martini Bar, including opening for Lizzie West as she began her Artist in Residence tour in Columbia, as well as playing a Hepatitis C Awareness show with the band Kelly's Lot (out of LA). Kelly's Lot has asked Hilary and the band to travel to LA in October for a telethon to continue their fight to raise awareness about this disease. |

...a beautiful outdoor venue on the river.
If you want to attend a show at a unique and special
outdoor venue, Cooper's Landing, right on the river and
under the stars, is the show for you! Hilary and several
band members will appear there again tomorrow, June 2nd
from 7-10 pm!

...Hepatitis C Awareness Benefit and opening for Lizzie West
We always have a great time at the Martini Bar. With
special events like the Lizzie West opening date and the
Hepatitis C Awareness gig - the band makes regular
appearances at this excellent venue.

...a lovely venue
Our show at the Stained Glass Theater in Houston,
Missouri was unfortunately to be the last show in this
amazing venue. We came home with an incredible souvenir:
a retro-looking beautiful hand-painted sign designed by
a local sign-painter, and a silver bracelet hand-crafted
by local silversmith artisans. What a friendly and
appreciative place!

...
Another great gig on a recent weekend tour: West Plains!
Not only is their civic center a gorgeous place to play,
but we were warmly received by the listeners and the
local commercial radio station gave us several promo
spots and put our music in rotation. We hope to play
here again next year through the Missouri Arts Council
touring roster.

The weather was perfect and the crowd was great! Earth
Day is always a special event in Columbia.

...at the Main Squeeze
Talented artist and sometime-photographer for the Hilary
Scott Band, Anastasia Pottinger's recent photo exhibit
at the Main Squeeze in downtown Columbia was a roaring
success! Several members of the band played in the
street for her show - hearkening back to some of our
first Columbia street gigs!
