"It will be a homecoming of sorts next week when singer-songwriter Hilary Scott begins a swing through some of Columbia's most notable cultural venues. The long-time Columbia resident has spent several extended stays overseas in the last few years, playing extended residencies in Vietnam and also gigging in South Korea and Italy. Scott was one of several "far-flung" local talents that I profiled back in August.

For all her musical adventures and time spent in various points abroad, Scott has chosen her Missouri home as the location for the release of her newest album. "Indigo", her eighth disc, will be debuted at a CD release party Friday, December 5 at Orr Street Studios."  (Read the full article)

Speaking about Indigo, Hilary says, "I'm a songwriter... covering music has never been my priority, yet I've found joy in the process of interpretation....I wanted these takes to capture my live performances as possible, using arrangements that have grown out of months of improvisation...covering music is a balancing act—honoring the original concept of the song and making it truly your own…but the guiding force for me has always been the feeling behind the song."

Hilary Scott is excited to be releasing Indigo at the Orr Street Studios, a showplace and community for the arts in Columbia.  The space is designed to be a place for local artists to unleash their creativity.  Anne Nelson of the Columbia Daily Tribune says, that the studio “…has emerged as a work of art itself...”

Breaking News......October 30, 2009

WOW! WOW! ...I have been playing Road To Hope constantly all week..can't get Hallelujah out of my head...so passionate and powerful...every song on this CD is terrific!  My personal favorite (Dylan should be ecstatic), To Make You Feel My LoveA Fan from Maine

Hilary Scott and Belltown Records recently sent a 40 Road To Hope CDs and 10 DVDs to our troops in Iraq...in wrapped packages with thank you notes for everything they do for us and to let them know that we are thinking about them here and praying for their safe return.   Chaplains Ken Ballinger, Michael Baker and Ray Rivers are distributing them.   Chaplain Ballinger writes:  "Thank you so much for the personal touch in packaging each gift along with the personal note.  Your caring spirit is obvious.  I enjoyed viewing and listening to the DVD.  I am sure our troops will enjoy it as well.  Thank you for remembering us in your thoughts and prayers.  Hearing from people like you helps keep us going.

Hilary Scott has donated 100 Road To Hope CD's to the non-profit organization, "Support America's Armed Forces".  SAAF supports the health, welfare, and morale of deployed troops, military personnel and their families by raising funds, collecting care package items and issuing grants to military bases, veteran organizations, active duty or reserve personnel, or families to improve the military population's quality of living. They also serve as the connector between the civilian population and deployed military personnel for sending care packages and partner with businesses to secure care packages for military deployment activities.  If you know someone in the armed services you'd like to send a copy of Road To Hope to, you can order it on the SAAF website for $12.99 per copy.  SAAF pays the shipping and uses the rest of your donation to accomplish their mission of helping our troops and their families.  If you don't have a specific person in mind, SAAF will select someone for you.  A number of other artists have donated their CDs as well.  To learn more about this wonderful organization and their music donation program, and/or to donate music go to www.supportamericasarmedforces.com/music.html

A fan writes, "I remember the first time I saw and heard Hilary. It was on a local TV show in Columbia, Missouri and she sang Sting's "Fields of Gold". It moved me close to tears...and it was done with such authenticity, heart, and soul. I don't believe that I've ever seen anything that touched me so. It was incredible.  And of this I am sure of: when it comes to expressing the depths of the human soul in music, very few singer/songwriters reached the depth of compassion as Hilary does. And that can't be learnt or taught. It's a gift. Her music overwhelms and captures your heart and soul."

Breaking News - July 15, 2007

Hilary Scott announces that she is moving to Seattle in mid-July.  Hilary writes, "As the summer heats up, I get ready for big changes in my life and in the music.  My seven years in Columbia, Missouri, have been wonderful for me as a person and as an artist.  I've made so many friends, had a chance to be embraced by a town of music lovers, and met some of the best musicians (and best people) I've ever had the chance to know - my band members.  With my eyes turned toward the future (and with some tears in them) I announce I will be moving to Seattle in mid-July; the next step on my road to hope.  While in Seattle, I will be working on some exciting new projects.  While I will miss Columbia and its amazing people terribly, I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to return here several times a year for Hilary Scott Band performances at some of our favorite festivals and venues....I hope the absence will make our hearts grow fonder...I'm looking forward to being back in town in late August to play several shows in Columbia, including the Blues 'N Roots 'N BBQ Festival (September 7 and 8) which will be a great time.  So as Independence Day nears and I move onto the next phase of my journey, I want to thank Columbia, my home.  I will miss you.  You may be out of sight, but never out of mind."

Hilary Scott  was recently asked to be part of a project entitled America's Songs, a project spearheaded by legendary songwriter, Keith Colley.  This project is meant to promote the artists involved and also present a compilation of songs that celebrate America.  Hilary is writing a song for the project and will record one or more with Mr. Colley.

Hilary was recently interviewed by Agnes Dautraix of France for her music website, The Sound of Music.  The two met through My Space and immediately struck up a conversation about their favorite artists.  Agnes' favorite songs by Hilary Scott are My Friend and All Along.  You can read the interview in English by visiting Agnes website, The Sound of Musik.

      Breaking News - November 8th, 2005

New review of "Come In, Come In:  Live!" from womenfolk.net:

"Come In, Come In: LIVE was released in 2003 and features singer-songwriter (and Womenfolk’s current featured artist for This Woman’s Work)

Hilary Scott performing ten brand new tracks in front of a studio audience of friends and family.  On this, Scott’s rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s

‘The Last Day Of Our Acquaintance’ is a standout. With slight doses of country swirled in with Scott’s confident singing, the song immediately

takes hold of its listener".    womenfolk.net review November 4th, 2005

Quote from a fan on the Martini Bar show on the 22nd:  "I've seen a lot of bands in concert from international

to local groups and can't recall ever seeing as much energy spent by an entire band for an extended

period of time.   Most bands with 1/2 your talent only perform 1/4 of the time you did this evening and they

usually put forth 1/8 of the energy your band gave.  To summarize, I was impressed.  I am a very busy guy and

enjoy finding new ways to relax, so attending your concert was a refreshing experience for me.  Thanks."

New gig photos by Kevin Dingman - check out Photo Album :  Oakland Block Party and Art In the Park

"We just got home from a stellar gig in Streetside Records' parking lot on Saturday (Sept. 24th) afternoon.  Hilary and the band seemed totally on top of their game, and we enjoyed this concert as we have few others.  They played for 2 solid hours....and it was all free.

If you live in mid-Missouri and missed this gig, then you made a truly unfortunate decision.  As for the select group that was there....it was a show nobody will soon forget!

Go Hilary!"
