Fall...Fans...the Future |
|
|
by Hilary Scott |
|
Well, August is here, and although the dog
days of summer are panting their hot breath
onto the people of Missouri, I am in the
northwest where even 90 degrees feels cool,
no humidity and a beautiful breeze from the
water. Sorry if anyone reading this gets mad
at me for bragging! :) On the flipside, even
while my body is vacationing, my mind is
awhirl with plans for the music upon our
return. While our promoter Tim Fancher and
booking agent Jane Accurso work on booking
us in festivals and mini- tours in Missouri
and surrounding states, the band and I are
working with Belltown to plan for the next
recording project.
Yes, for those of you who've purchased
all 4 Hilary Scott releases already, we
intend to jump back into the studio as early
as this fall in preparation for another full
band release. The band currently has a live
performance roster with more than 60 songs,
most of those originals. We've also
incorporated several new cover songs from
various artists like Damien Rice and Leonard
Cohen among others. However, only about 35
of our songs are currently available on
recordings. So, for this next CD we are
going to include the most-requested new
originals, and perhaps some fan-favorite
covers. We welcome your suggestions, as we
want this CD to be a fan-pleaser!
Speaking of fans, we will most likely
utilize the fan club site in order to obtain
votes for what you'd like to see on the next
album. There are also exclusive photo
albums, other polls, band interviews you
can't read anywhere else, chances to
interact with other fan club members, and
access to special offers for fans only, such
as limited edition photos. Belltown has also
been considering releasing a limited-
edition 2-DVD set of the "Come In, Come In:
Live!" CD Release Party which would be made
available to fan club members only. The fan
club has grown remarkably since its
inception on Yahoo Groups, and Belltown, in
conjunction with the moderators of the site,
will be moving the fan club to a more
user-friendly host. Site moderators Mark and
Melissa are slated to contribute a guest
column to the October newsletter in which
they will give more information about the
site, and why they got it started. If you're
interested in joining at this time, there's
a link to the site from www.hilaryscott.com.

PROMOTER'S CORNER |
|
|
by Timothy Fancher |
|
Hi, Hilary Scott fans, and welcome to the
Promoters Corner. We have had some very
exciting shows the past couple of months.
Hilary and the entire band had their debut
performance at The Martini Bar. If you did
not get to go, great news, the entire band
will return to the Martini Bar, Saturday,
October 22nd. As those of you that went to
the June 11th show know, this is an
incredible, sophisticated and gorgeous venue
with an amazing sound system.
In my opinion, the concert at the Martini
Bar was the best I have ever seen. The band
was spot on perfect. Hilary thrilled the
crowd with her vocals and received
spontaneous applause during her first violin
solo. I had not heard the band perform
"People on a Train" since last fall. Hilary
and the Band closed the night with this
song, and the entire crowd was simply
speechless. Without question the Hilary
Scott Band gained many new fans that night.
We were all able to celebrate at the house
of the owner of the Martini Bar, David Doc
Campbell, until the wee hours of the
morning. Doc, Bill and B were just
incredible to Hilary and the entire band in
their hospitality and warmth. We hope to see
all of you out there and as an added bonus,
we will be selling shirts with the Martini
Bar logo and a brand new image, personally
created by Hilary!
Sunday, July 10th was also a very special
day. As many of you know, that was Hilarys
birthday, celebrated with their performance
at the Shelter Garden Concert Series. I
remember when we first arrived, thinking how
large the area was, taking note of the huge
expanse of green grass. About thirty minutes
into the set, I looked over and it was
shoulder-to- shoulder people, I could not
even see any green! When Hilary went from
guitar to violin, there was a low murmur
from the crowd as she played, and people
commented amongst themselves that she was
playing a second instrument. When she sat
down at the keyboard, again there was a
(louder) appreciative murmur as she began
playing her third instrument. I always love
seeing and hearing new fans react to Hilary
Scott and the Band when they hear them for
the first time. It was wonderful that so
many people could share such a special day
with Hilary and the Band, and thank you to
all who came out.
We are currently booking acts in the
Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago areas for
the fall and winter. There are many very
exciting behind the scenes things
happening with Hilarys career, it is really
a matter of time before the rest of the
country knows Hilary!
As always, I want to remind you about our
petition, if you are not familiar with it,
please click on the link below and see what
it is all about. Please also send it to your
friends and family, and remember they can
always hear clips of Hilarys music on our
site.
Right now Hilary and Michael are out west
on a much deserved vacation, resting up for
all the gigs in the fall. Please check the
gigs link for a complete list of show dates,
including a featured performance at the
courthouse square at Columbias Twilight
Fest, September 1st. Again, please mark your
calendar for Saturday, October 22nd at the
Martini Bar and plan to get there early! The
place was packed at our debut performance,
it is not unreasonable at all to say they
may have to turn people away at the door by
the end of the night.
Thank you all so much for your continued
support and please continue to spread the
word about Hilary Scotts music to all that
you know, e-mail your radio stations
requesting her music and ask your friends
and family outside of Columbia to help
introduce her music to their stations! Also,
check the site often for updates on upcoming
gigs in and out of Columbia, and one last
time thank you to all her fans, old and new.
