Been Drinkin' Again

This is the story of a boy who died when he was young

This is the story of a girl who cried when he was gone

She'd look out through the window he would sit outside

She didn't know his name but she had seen him crying

Her mama said don't go outside girl

'Cause you don't know about their kind girl

And the boy would go up to the room

where his mama'd be lying on the bed

He didn't know what she drank

but he could smell her breath when she said

Don't go outside we don't got no shoes for your feet

We don't got no blankets and we don't got no heat

But I got mine I got mine...

Mama been drinking again

Mama been drinking her gin

Mama got troubles the boy don't understand

Mama been drinking again

The girl grew to love the boy without a soul

Can't you see that you're losing control

Don't go outside girl

'Cause they don't know about our kind girl

And all that she could say was look what we've become

We're living so old and we're dying so young

How do I love thee, he said how do I love thee

She said, how do you love me

Well, thirty-two bottles that I counted last week

The only way out is straight down

You're only flying when your feet won't touch the ground

There is something inside girl

And I am drowning inside girl

But I got mine...I got mine

Lord he been drinking again

Lord he been drinking that gin

I guess he got troubles that I don't understand

Lord he been drinking again
