SHilary Scott is creating musical artwork... and the momentum is building.... "We are blown away by Hilary's powerful and fresh arrange-ments (in Indigo) not to mention her amazing voice. I have been playing her Autumn Leaves daily...I had always liked that song, but her version just touches my soul. I wondered what she could do with it (Danny Boy) that would transcend the cliché we usually hear. Well, I got chill bumps and teared up when I listened to her version!! I think part of her talent is her ability to make you feel the song with her." Jeanie...A Fan
Eric Cohen, Music Director, WAER 88.3 says, "Let's just say I give CONSONANCE two thumbs up! I have really enjoyed the tunes we have played thus far."

Difficult to categorize, Hilary Scott writes music that blends blues, folk, rock and classical influences into a pleasurable enigma, giving her listeners a new musical experience. Her musical influences and inspirations are varied, which leads many to attempt comparisons to artists that inhabit the entire galaxy of genres, ages, and genders. And yet, her sound is grabbing listeners of all ages...there seems to be something here for everyone.
Take one-part thought-provoking lyrics, two-parts original tunes, five-parts excellent backing musicians, shake well, and out comes a perfectly mixed audio delicacy. Perhaps the greatest testament to Hilary Scott's appeal is the loyalty of her fans, and their response to her work. Everyone who listens to her music has a different favorite song.
Hilary Scott’s voice has been described as “amazing”, “powerful”, “extraordinary” and with “the purity and sweetness of the young Judy Collins and Joan Baez”, and she is equally at home on the keyboard and playing guitar and violin. If you enjoy Sara MacLachlan, Eva Cassidy and Norah Jones, you'll love Hilary Scott!
Hilary Scott finds her home in venues from concert halls to underground bars, has broken into the difficult commercial radio scene without major label backing, and has done remarkably well in sales of her independently released albums. Hilary performs solo and with her band. She has performed in Asia at the five-star Park Hyatt Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and five-star Grand Hyatt in Seoul, South Korea. Hilary and the Hilary Scott Band have opened for Little Feat, Tanya Tucker, Jonatha Brook and Beth Orton.
Radio Airplay News...Eric Cohen, Music Director for WAER 88.3, reports that they have been giving Indigo light to moderate airplay. KOPN and BXR, Columbia, MO have been playing Indigo. Eric Gouttefarde, activ 'radio, France is playing Consonance and Road To Hope. More....

More about Hilary Scott...
Hilary Scott performed solo in the Northwest, but moved to Missouri where she formed a six-piece band called LaidDownEight. LaidDownEight was formed in August of 2000 when Bill Adams, one of her current guitarists, heard Hilary on KOPN 89.5, Columbia's community radio station. It was only Hilary's second day in town when Mike Columbo, a DJ on KOPN who had heard her two previous solo releases, invited her to the station for an interview and to play live with her percussionist, Michael Bielski. As soon as the interview was over, Bill Adams was waiting outside of the control room door ready to ask Hilary to jam with him sometime. From that point, members joined LD8 one by one as people who were active in the Columbia music scene decided to become a part of this new sound. Hilary and LaidDownEight began playing Columbia's musical venues frequently, and soon carved a niche for themselves. Hilary's style flourished as she began working with these musicians whose jam-band past expanded upon the songs she was writing. LaidDownEight, now known as The Hilary Scott Band, helped her record, "The Floating World," and it continues to perform with her around the Midwest.
Although Hilary Scott produced two albums prior to "The Floating World," this album was the first to be produced on a large scale. After "The Floating World" was released in May of 2002, it was picked up by music stores, and online sales from this website and CDBaby.com have helped make The Floating World and three more of Hilary Scott's CD's available to the international market. From Belgium to Brazil, DJ's, journalists and music lovers are discovering Hilary Scott's new sound and playing a part in spreading it to others. In 2003, Scott signed with independent record label, Belltown Records. Her eagerly-awaited second commercial album, "Come In, Come In: Live", was released on October 24th, 2003. Produced live in the studio with an audience of ardent fans, "Come In, Come In: Live" became a favorite among her followers. Hilary Scott has also re-released a mastered version of an earlier album, "Hypothermia", which is available on this website. "Hypothermia" showcases the artist as a solo performer (voice and acoustic guitar) of 10 of the artist's original works. One of the cuts on the "Hypothermia" album, "Fade to Black" spent several weeks at the top of the COMO Radio on-line music chart. Hilary Scott's enhanced EP, "Out of the Wilderness", created a buzz with fans and was distributed to college and independent radio stations in the Midwest and on both coasts. Scott's 2006 release, "Road To Hope" is a top-flight CD that showcases the very best of the Hilary Scott Band sound and was also released to radio. Road To Hope is a fan favorite, and her rendition of Bob Dylan's To Make You Feel My Love has attracted the interest of famed DJ, Michael Tearson, who broadcasts the Bob Dylan Hour on the Sirius Disorder channel. In addition to the albums produced in the studio, Scott has also released "The Best of Hilary Scott Live, Volume One", a compilation of 12 songs recorded live.
2009 has been a busy year for Ms. Scott. In May, she relased Consonance, which is collaboration with singer songwriter Wes Wingate. On December 5th she released Indigo...a solo performance of 12 covers featuring Hilary Scott on vocals, keyboard and violin. Bruce Barkelew and Bill Adams add just the right touch with their guitar tracks. Lynne Lampe of L2 created the stunning album art and the beautiful album photographs were taken by Anastasia Pottinger. |

**Aarik Danielsen of the Columbia Daily Tribune writes, "Hilary Scott hits Columbia with new CD, slew of shows. He also writes: "It will be a homecoming of sorts next week when singer-songwriter Hilary Scott begins a swing through some of Columbia's most notable cultural venues. The long-time Columbia resident has spent several extended stays overseas in the last few years, playing extended residencies in Vietnam and also gigging in South Korea and Italy. Scott was one of several "far-flung" local talents that I profiled back in August. For all her musical adventures and time spent in various points abroad, Scott has chosen her Missouri home as the location for the release of her newest album. "Indigo", her eighth disc, will be debuted at a CD release party Friday, December 5 at Orr Street Studios." (Read the full article)
Hilary Scott's "People On A Train" included on Fireworks Melodic Rock magazine (UK) compliation CD.
Hilary Scott's new CD, Indigo was released on December 5th...Singer songwriter Hilary Scott released her 8th album, Indigo, at the Orr Street Studios in Columbia, MO. Indigo, is Hilary Scott’s first all-cover album, interpreting some of her favorite songwriters with her own beautiful arrangements. In Indigo, Hilary's intimate vocals and improvisational piano create stunning versions of standard and contemporary favorites, with shades of folk, jazz and blues. The idea for Indigo came about as Hilary was traveling and playing music overseas. Indigo’s release followed Hilary Scott’s return from Sanremo, Italy, where she participated as one of the few international artists accepted into the Festival Degli Autori, which provided her the opportunity to collaborate with songwriters, producers and musicians from Italy and other areas of Europe, and to perform for labels and industry insiders. Indigo is now available for sale from this website: Purchase Indigo from Apple iTunes, CDBaby, and other digital download sites. Speaking about Indigo, Hilary says, "I'm a songwriter... covering music has never been my priority, yet I've found joy in the process of interpretation....I wanted these takes to capture my live performances as possible, using arrangements that have grown out of months of improvisation...covering music is a balancing act—honoring the original concept of the song and making it truly your own…but the guiding force for me has always been the feeling behind the song." Hilary Scott loved releasing Indigo at the Orr Street Studios, a showplace and community for the arts in Columbia. The space is designed to be a place for local artists to unleash their creativity. Anne Nelson of the Columbia Daily Tribune says, that the studio “…has emerged as a work of art itself...”
