Fade To Black

The one who taught you roses was your mother

The red is only for your lover

White is forever and that means death

Pink is not red or white

Somewhere between the two it rests

And we all invest our hearts in gold

But we settle for the silver in our hair as we grow old

But not you, you'd burn your fingers just to keep the flame high

And you, you'd sever your ties to this life if only you could fly

And some walk through this world without a brother

And some sleep in a bed that is their only lover

Some got money enough to bribe the devil to buy back their soul

But most of us don't know any better than to rest somewhere

Between good and evil

But we all push our way through each day

And we all struggle under each passing year's weight

But not you, you'd trap your body just to keep your mind free

And you leave if only it could prove that staying would mean anything

You'd fade to black...just to not be on the pale

Little boy standing all alone

Little boy let me lead you home

Little boy end your useless fight

The daytime always comes from night

And you, you are the beauty of the rose

And you, you are the purest red I know

And I the mixed up, faded, jealousy become the red and white

Never to change you

Never to infect you with my blight

And you'd fade to black...just to not be on the pale
