the floating world

Rocket Kirchner writes:

..."Her debut CD entitled "The Floating World," is just that; floating, ethereal, a bit off-center, yet just on-target enough to walk a tightrope between idealism and fatalism.  So who is this chick, anyway?  Guessing by the lyrics, a true-blue romantic, because there is a lot of heart in this disc.  Hilary brings the listener to the brink in these snapshot narratives, and leaves the rest to our imagination.  Like some of my other favorite female artists, her use of significant details is pared down and not self-indulgent.  The music that carries these lyric dreams reminds me of Paul McCartney's song, 'Hope of Deliverance'..."

..."Hilary lives in the moment as exemplified by songs like 'When It's Done' and 'Memories Won't Keep,' and when her voice does a certain trill it must be some kind of primal signal to come into the moment with her.  After listening to the Floating World, you might be thinking that life is just a succession of moments.  Don't grip too hard, just let go and let her music take you into that moment, because that moment is a really nice place to be."
