Thinking Lyrically

Review: Hilary Scott – Don’t Call Me Angel.

“Hilary Scott this week releases her new record, Don’t Call Me Angel via Belltown Records. A musician with a wealth of music experience as she delivers her twelfth studio album, Scott delivers an awesome blend of Americana and Pop that keeps you coming back for more. Get a taste of the album through this musician’s website here.

A beautiful voice that shines on every song on this new album, Scott sounds so good throughout. Her vocals are on show on this record, particularly on tracks such as ‘You Will Be Mine’ with glorious soft tones that sound angelic (cheesy, but true) combined with a power packed tone that delivers stunning lyricism that fills you with warmth and is perfect for the season.

Combined with these gorgeous vocals are some really very good melodies. Combined with guitar, some drumwork and a touch of Piano Scott keeps to a less is more approach on her new album and it works. Tracks such as ‘Make It Right’ and ‘Unlove Story’ are great examples of this, where the guitars and easy melodies really allow for the vocal to be highlighted and it makes such a fantastic sound and the best of this musician coming together here perfectly.

A fantastic collection of songs that delivers a variety of emotions and gorgeous tones that keep you entranced and delivers such powerful emotions, particularly on tracks such as ‘Unlove Story’ which is going on my playlist as soon as it possibly can. If anything this album proves is that I don’t listen to enough Americana.”
