Bob Everhart, Country Music News International reviews Hilary Scott’s “Don’t Call Me Angel”

Bob Everhart, President of the National Traditional Country Music Association for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
in his review of Hilary Scott’s Don’t Call Me Angel has this to say about the album:

“Love the introducing acoustic guitar sound on this terrific CD.  Hilary has that kind of Emmylou Harris voice that has the vibrato just right as she presents songs she has written… She’s very convincing in what she is saying viz-a-viz a lovely singing voice.  My expertise is with traditional and classic country music, however when I was younger, I had a backing band similar to what I’m hearing behind Hilary’s lovely voice.  That’s a ‘memory’ trip for me, what a pleasant one it is… Thank you so much for sharing your music with me Hilary… I can best close my review with a statement from your publicity sheet… “Hilary uses her voice and her sense of hope, humor, and a lot of soul, to shine a light on the beauty found in humanism in each and every track.”

Freight Train Love awarded Vintage Folk Album of the Year (2015) by the Rural Roots Music Commission

National Traditional Music Commission

Freight Train Love

Hilary Scott writes, “We were honored again this year by the Rural Roots Music Commission.  We were awarded the “Vintage Folk Album of the Year” for Freight Train Love.  We feel particularly touched by the term vintage as we do hope the album stands the test of time, and the album does, to me, have a more traditional sound than my previous work.  Thanks to all who were involved in the project, and thank you RRMC, and Bob Everhart of the National Traditional Country Music Association, for the honor!”

Freight Train Love reviewed by Bob Everhart for Country Music News International

Country Music News International

Bob Everhart’s review of Freight Train Love for Country Music International was published today!  See some of Bob Everhart’s comments below:

“This very gifted beautiful and lovely country girl came all the way from St. Louis, Missouri, to LeMars in 2014 for some Rural Roots Music Commission honor and respect.  She’s right back with another incredibly lovely CD, many of the songs her own originals… I once heard it took 15-million dollars to make Garth Brooks a star.  Not sure that’s true, but I’m very glad Hilary Scott does not have that same kind of money.  I’m afraid it would ruin her very beautiful originality, that she expresses so well, with and without love in these songs…What a nice surprise for me to hear this lovely girl’s voice, imagination, purpose, dedication, and ‘music seeds’ to close out my ‘listening’ time for today.  Thanks Hilary, get ready because this CD goes to the Rural Roots Music Commission too.  It’s early in the season, but get set and ready to go.  Look out Alison Kraus, you have competition.”
